Annual Game Developer Conference has already commenced and at the platform, Sony has announced PlayStation VR (PS VR). It will launch in October 2016 and will include all of the contents (including 6 Games) that come with the package.
Playroom VR from Japan studios will be available for download from PlayStation store for all VR owners. Sony has also announced VR worlds that includes five VR experiences developed especially for PS VR. It includes VR Luge, London Heist, Into the Deep and more.
PlayStation VR Specifications and Features
This VR Headset sports 5.7-Inch OLED Display that gives 1920 x RGB x 1080 Resolution (960 x RGB x 1080 per eye). It has around 100-degree FOV (field of view) and works at 120Hz / 90Hz refresh rate.
The PS VR headset has dimensions of 187 x 185 x 277 mm and processor units approximately measures 143 x 36 x 143 mm. Processor Unit allows 3D audio processing, Social Screening including seperate mode and mirroring mode and also comes with special Cinematic mode.
The device has HDMI, AUX, Stereo Headphone Jack and the processor unite includes HDMI TV, HDMI PS4, USB, HDMI and AUX. It is also equipped with Six-Axis motion sensing system that consists of three-axis gyroscope and three-axis accelerometer.
PlayStation Camera costing US$ 60 and and Move Controllers costing US$ 50 will not be included. The PS VR will be priced at around US$ 399 (€399, £349 and 44,980 yen) and is said to have 50 games available for launch by the end of 2016. The PlayStation VR will have global roll out starting from Japan, North America, Asia and Europe. Pre-oreders are expected to start soon.
Box contents will include VR headset, Processor unit, VR headset connection cable, HDMI cable, USB cable, Stereo headphones (with a complete set of earpiece), AC power cord and AC adapter.
