Samsung Z smartphone, first in its series, will mark the entry of the all new Tizen Operating System in the market. The phone will be made available in the third quarter of 2014 with Russia as its first launch destination.
Initial impressions on Samsung Z does somewhat give out a feeling of Samsung Galaxy S5. The Samsung’s home grown Tizen OS is highly inspired by TouchWiz UI found on Androids. The OS will support Widgets, multiple home screens, Notification tab and an Application Tray. There will also be a Tizen Store for downloading free and premium Apps. The phone features 4.8-Inch Super AMOLED Display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and 306ppi pixel density. The hardware will include 2.3GHz Quad Core Processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of Storage. There is also a Micro SD card slot included for further expansion up to 64GB.
The Samsung Z specs also include a 2.1 mega pixel front facing camera for video calling and a 8 mega pixel shooter on the rear. Camera features include LED Flash, Auto Focus, HDR, Geo-tagging etc. There is a 2600 mAh Li-Ion battery for powering up the device for long hours.
The phone runs on Samsung’s very own operating system called the Tizen OS V2.2.1. The Samsung Z supports 3G and 4G networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band, Bluetooth V4.0, Micro USB V2.0, NFC, IR Port, A-GPS / GLONASS and 3.5mm Audio Jack.
