Nokia Asha 500 series Phones Update brings in WhatsApp support and new Features

Good news for Nokia Asha 500 series phone users, Asha 500 Phones will now support WhatsApp Messenger. It is one of the best messaging out on the phones and majorly used as an alternative to SMS Text messaging.

To download WhatsApp, Nokia Asha 500 Phone users will first have to update the OTA (Over-the-Air) Update. This update is mandatory to install and use the messenger service. WhatsApp is available as free to download on Asha 500, 502 and 503 phones.

The OTA updates are expected to roll out this week itself. After installing the Messenger, the application auto detects the contacts that are using the WhatsApp services. Other features like photo sending, voice messaging, Videos etc. are the same as the App found in Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Additionally, this update also brings in improvements in the Operating system. Nokia has added screen gestures like Swiping the screen to start camera or long press to get camera settings. Users can also see the recently called contacts and used Applications. Lock Screen has also been updated to show full notifications.
