New Microsoft Band announced for $249.99 – Key Features

Microsoft has announced its new fitness band named the Microsoft Band. It is priced at US$ 249.99 and will go on pre-order from today itself. The device will go on sale from October 30, 2015.

Microsoft Band is a multi-device fitness tracker band that supports devices running on Windows 8.1 or later, iPhones 4S / 5 / 5C / 5S / 6 / 6 Plus with iOS 8.1.1+ and most of the Android 4.3 – 5.0 OS phones. It has a 32 x 12.8 mm curved AMOLED Display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

This wrist wear is made of Thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanate (TPSiV) material and is equipped with a Li-Po battery that gives 48 hours of usage. The battery is fully chargeable in just 1.5 Hours.

The Microsoft Band features array of sensors like Optical hear rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer / gyro, Gyrometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Skin temperature sensor, UV Sensor, Capacitive Sensor, Galvanic Skin and GPS. The operating temperature ranges from -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F) and operating Altitude of -300m to +4877m.

This device also integrates Cortana that can be used to type messages just by Voice. It also includes Microsoft health that tracks various Fitness factors. The band can also receive text alerts with quick pre-made responses, calendar alerts etc.
