Microsoft Windows 10 OS Editions announced

Microsoft has confirmed multiple Windows 10 OS editions and its naming schemes. Microsoft aims to deliver A1 class performance across a range of devices. The Windows 10 OS Editions are optimized for different devices including Desktop, Tablets, Smartphones, Notebooks, 2-in-1 hybrids etc. Company did not reveal the exact release dates but the launch is expected soon.

As we announced earlier this year, for the first time ever, we are offering the full versions of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Pro as a free and easy upgrade for qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year after launch.** Once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device.

Windows 10 Home

This is a consumer focused Desktop edition of the OS. It will be used in Tablets and 2-in-1s and will offer enhanced personal experience. This Edition will include Cortana (in select markets), Microsoft Edge web browser, continuum tablet mode, Windows Hello face recognitions, Iris and finger print logging. Moreover, Windows 10 Home Edition also comes bundled with applications like Photos, Maps, Mali, Calendar, Video and Music. For gamers, Xbox One owners will be able to play their Xbox One games form any Windows 10 PC in their home and will also have access to Xbox Live community.

Windows 10 Mobile

It is specially designed for touch centric devices like Smartphones and small tablets and will also include the touch-optimized version of Office. Mobile security and management feature will be enhanced. The applications are the same as the Home Edition.

Windows 10 Pro

The Edition is aimed for Small business and comes with extra set of features like the efficient management of desktop apps, Security for sensitive business data, remote / mobile support and utilization of cloud technology. Users and businesses can also take advantage of Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) Programs.

Windows 10 Enterprise

The Enterprise Edition will carter the needs of Medium and Large size organizations. The OS will be highly secured and will have all the available features and options bundled inside. The OS will be available for volume licensing customers and will have access to the Long Term Servicing Branch as a deployment option.

Windows 10 Education

As the name suggests, the build will be aimed at schools, students, teachers, staff, administrators etc. The OS will have a special academic volume licensing. Windows Home and and Windows 10 Pro devices will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Education OS.

Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise
