Amazon Kindle Fire HD 6 v/s Kindle Fire HD 7 – Specs, Comparison

Amazon has launched the upgrade version of Kindle Fire HD dubbed as the Fire HD 7 along with an all new younger cousin called the Kindle Fire HD 6. Both tablets come in 8GB and 16 GB variants and has color options of White, Black, Cobalt, Magento and Citron Colors.

The Fire HD 6 carries a price tag of $99 for the 8GB variant while the 16GB costs $119. The Fire HD 7 8GB and 16GB versions are priced at $139 and $159 Respectively. Both the slates are already up for pre-order and will start shipping from October 2, 2014.

The HD 6 comes with 6-Inch IPS Display while the HD 7 Sports a 7-Inch Screen.  Both the devices have an Advanced Polarizing Filter screen that uses Anti-Glare Technology. Both the Tablets have Resolution of 1280 x 800 Pixels however the Fire HD 6 has 252ppi Pixel Density while the Fire HD 7 comes with 216ppi.

Processor, RAM, Storage

Both the slates gets the processing power from a Quad Core processor that consist of a set of Dual Core 1.5GHz + Dual Core 1.2GHz CPU’s. Both the devices comes with 1GB of RAM and has two storage options of 8GB and 16GB. The is no MicroSD card slot for further storage expansion.

Camera, OS, Battery

The Fire HD 6 and HD 7 sports a VGA Camera on the front along with a 2 Mega Pixel Shooter on the back. The slates run on Android 4.4 based Fire OS 4 Sangria. Company claims a battery life of up to 8 hours of mixed use and 6 hours approx. of charging time.


Both the Tabs lacks 4G-LTE connectivity but supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It has Bluetooth V4.0 with A2DP Profiles, MicroUSB V2.0 with Slim Port enabled, Location based service via Wi-Fi, 3.5mm Audio Jack, integrated Stereo Speakers with Dolby Digital plus Audio Engine, etc.
